Large-format metal additive manufacturing is pushing the boundaries of what can be printed. Now, post-processing needs to keep up.
We are introducing MARS05 XL, our new automated depowdering solution developed for the largest and heaviest metal AM builds. With the capacity to handle build volumes of up to 1,375 × 1,375 × 1,700 mm and loads of up to 7,000 kg, MARS05 XL takes our depowdering technology to an entirely new scale.
At this size, depowdering is no longer simply a matter of removing loose powder. Moving and manipulating an entire build weighing several tonnes presents a challenge of its own. MARS05 XL is designed to automate this process by securing the complete build inside an enclosed workspace and using two-axis rotation combined with vibration to release powder from the build and printed components.
Controlled movement helps powder escape from internal channels, cavities and complex geometries, while the depowdering sequence can be adapted to the requirements of each build. This means less dependence on manual handling, even when working with exceptionally large components.
And going bigger does not mean compromising on material flexibility. MARS05 XL is ATEX-rated and designed for both reactive and non-reactive metal powders. Released powder can also be pneumatically conveyed from the system for further handling.
MARS05 XL was created for where metal AM is heading: bigger builds, heavier parts and increasingly demanding post-processing.
